What You Should Know Before Getting Body Collision Repair

Collision Repair

Before you go looking into collision repair, familiarize yourself with the basics of what you should look for.

When you’ve been in a car accident, it’s likely that you’re feeling stressed for a wide variety of reasons. You might be injured, your car is likely damaged, you may need to handle legal proceedings, and often there is a psychological impact, and you may find yourself showing symptoms of shock. With all of these factors at play, finding the energy to deal with car repairs and finding a shop that will complete body collision repair for the right price can be tricky.

Who Fixes Your Car

Every insurance company will have a number of repair teams that they certify through and deal with directly, but this doesn’t mean your options are limited. You can choose whatever shop for your repairs that you will feel most comfortable with.

Frames Can Be Fixed

Having a bent or dented frame is perhaps one of the most frustrating damage options there are. Fortunately, not all frame damage is catastrophic. Depending on the extent of the damage some frames can be straightened.

One Estimate Is Enough

While you might want multiple quotes for work on your own dime when working with an insurance company one is enough. This is particularly true if you have the estimate completed at a shop certified by your repair company. If the estimate given winds up being less than what is needed to fix your car, you’ll need to file simple paperwork with your company to have them distribute the rest of the funds.

Not All Shops Are Equal

Just as different restaurants have different specialties, different auto shops might be better or worse at different things. Some might be great at fixing the mechanical parts, others may be gifted at repainting. Choosing a shop you know and trust will help give you peace of mind.

Not Everything Needs Paint

Having your car fully repainted can add a significant amount to your repairs bottom line. Depending on the damage, you may not need a full paint job either. A trained specialist should be able to repaint sections of your car and still have it look as good as the day you bought it.
